Biome celebrates the colors and patterns found in the Northern Arizona landscape in combination with imaginary dreamscapes. The work included illustrates the positive outcomes of growth over time. The paintings and sculptural elements depict flora and fauna combined with architectural spaces and lighting, exploring social dynamics, personal narrative, and dreams. The artist hopes that Biome serves as an encouragement to love and respect nature and take care of our inner mental landscapes.
The Biome installation showcased artwork created in less than a year during 1000 studio hours and 1 residency. The show included 50 small ceramic vessels and sculptures, 4 large ceramics sculptures, 11 paintings, and 5 wood and paper-maché pedestals.
The installation was hosted by The Museum of Contemporary Art Flagstaff and was open to the public June 9th- June 17th, 2023.
This project was supported through the Artist Opportunity Grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts which receives support from the State of Arizona and the National Endowment for the Arts.
